AAHXs are installed in two counter flow air streams. The AAHX is used to capture energy in exhaust air stream and transfer it to the supply air stream. WAHXs are installed around a cooling coil in a single air stream. The WAHX precools the air entering the cooling coil and reheats the air after the cooling coil

Modulation control / frost control is an option on Split Loop Thermosyphon AAHXs. Valves are installed in the piping between the coils. The valves can be used to modulate the amount of energy recovery and/or used to prevent coil frosting.
